Addressing the meeting, Deputy Director of the Criminal Police Department under the MPS Major Ho Sy Niem said that one type of the complicated non-conventional crime that has appeared in recent times is the operation of outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Statistics have showed that the number of criminal gangs using large-displacement motorcycles to commit crime has risen recently.

The official believed that some of the big-displacement motorcycle clubs had become criminal gangs, which are transporting illicit drugs, conducting theft and robbery, protecting prostitutes and killing people.

To respond to raids by domestic law-enforcement forces, outlaw motorcycle gangs recruit foreigners entering the country to commit criminal offences. Such a circumstance needs a close coordination among law-enforcement agencies of regional countries to find best approaches to control the new type of crime.

The Australian Federal Police are very active in supporting regional police forces to fight the crime.

At the meeting, domestic and international experts shared real experiences and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the fight against transnational outlaw motorcycle gangs in the region.
