Minister Luong Tam Quang hosts Permanent Secretary of Singaporean Ministry of Home Affairs
Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang hosted a meeting with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Singapore Aubeck Kam, on the afternoon of October 9th, in Hanoi.
Welcoming the delegation of the Singaporean Ministry of Home Affairs to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Minister Luong Tam Quang stressed that, over the past time, the Vietnam – Singapore bilateral relations has been thriving in all fields, saying that the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and 10th anniversary of the upgrading of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership in 2023.
Meanwhile, the two ministries actively exchanged delegations of all levels, closely cooperated in preventing and combating crimes, especially drug-related crime and cybercrime, as well as effectively implemented fire and rescue cooperation activities, contributing to ensuring security and order in each country.
The host underlined that the cooperation deal on preventing and combating transnational crime between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore signed in 2018 is an important legal basis for functional units of the two sides to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual concern.
To further deepen the relations between the two ministries, Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides continue to maintain delegation exchanges and share information on regional and global situations affecting one of the two countries, contributing to enhancing mutual political trust between the two countries.
The Vietnamese Minister proposed that the two sides should actively support and consult each other at multilateral forums to reach consensus on measures to address issues of mutual concern, contributing to maintaining a peaceful, stable and developing environment in each country and the region.
The host also stressed the need to expand cooperation in exchanging criminal information related to citizens of the two countries, so as to ensure security and safety for investment and business activities between the two countries, while ensuring security and safety for one country’s citizens living, working, studying and travelling in the other country.
Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides early complete related legal documents on bilateral law enforcement cooperation such as amending and supplementing the cooperation agreement on preventing and combating transnational crime while considering about negotiation and signing of agreements on extradition and on transfer of sentenced persons.
Sincerely thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore Aubeck Kam proposed that the two sides continue to strengthen cooperation in security and law enforcement, as well as in ensuring cybersecurity, preventing and combating online scams, fighting drug-related crimes and applying science and technology into crime prevention and control, contributing to maintaining peace, security and development in each country as well as in the region and the world.
