Minister of Public Security commends firefighter for saving more than 100 students
General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, sent a letter of commendation to Quan Ngoc Hoang, an officer of the Fire and Rescue Division under the Tuyen Quang Provincial Police Department of for saving 105 students from flooding.
The letter says that the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has been reported that heavy rains on the morning of June 29 had caused landslides blocking many local roads.
Meanwhile, floodwater had isolated Lam Binh High School, Lang Can town, Lam Binh district, threatening lives of students staying at the school’s dormitory.
Upon receiving the information, at 3 am Hoang rushed into the scene despite possible dangers on the way caused by heavy rains and landslides.
As soon as Hoang got to the location, he joined on-site forces in the rescue mission. Along with other rescuers, Hoang with his skills and knowledge acquired from training courses and experience as a professionally firefighter to successfully evacuate the 105 students to safer places.
Minister To Lam praised Hoang for his brave action and sense of devotion to the people.
The Minister asked the Department of Organization and Personnel to coordinate with the Department of Party and Political Affairs, the Provincial Police Department of Tuyen Quang to commemorate the brave firefighter.
The Department of Party and Political Affairs, Department of Information and Communication and the provincial police department were assigned to launch a movement following the bright example of Hoang across the Public Security Forces.
At the same time, Minister To Lam urged the police forces nationwide to prepare sufficient assets and efforts to ensure safety for the people during the rainy season.
