Minister To Lam attends celebration of the 38th anniversary of the victory of counterintelligence plan CM12
The Ministry of Public Security held a meeting to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the victory of CM12 counterintelligence plan (September 1984), on the afternoon of August 11, at the Hon Da Bac relic site (Khanh Binh Tay commune, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province).
Politburo member, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General To Lam chaired the meeting.
Minister To Lam was touched speaking, "Today, the Ministry of Public Security is holding a meeting to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the successful implementation of the counterintelligence plan CM12 - a typical feat of arms of the People's Public Security Forces in the fight against counter-revolutionary forces, maintaining political security, protecting the Party, the revolutionary government and the socialist regime. In this joyful, emotional and proud atmosphere, we are reunited with the public security officers who made a great victory 38 years ago. Until now, all the participants in the operation are retired and old aged but you are still full of revolutionary enthusiasm, and make large contributions to the cause of safeguarding security and order of the country and building the People's Public Security Forces.”
Minister To Lam said that the CM12 Plan gave a decisive blow to reactionary and hostile forces, defeating their attempt to connect domestic reactionaries and foreign hostile forces to use armed forces to wage a "war of destruction in many aspects" in Vietnam.
The victory of the People's Police Forces in the CM12 Plan was of great strategic significance as it demonstrated the excellent professional expertise of the Public Security Forces on one hand, and laid a brilliant milestone in the heroic and glorious tradition of the Vietnamese People's Public Security Forces.
Recognizing and appreciating the exceptionally outstanding feats of arms of the forces participating in the CM12 Plan, the Party and State conferred the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces on two subunits and three officers of the Public Security Forces, as well as many other noble awards on other subunits and officers.
In order to record the historical victory of the CM12 Plan, the Ministry of Public Security has coordinated with local authorities to invest in the construction of the Hon Da Bac National Historic Site - Counterintelligence Center of the CM12 Plan to educate the heroic traditional of the Public Security Forces to generations of public security officers and people.
Before attending the meeting, Minister To Lam and other delegates offered flowers and incense to President Ho Chi Minh at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House, and fallen public security officers at the National Security Protection Monument in the Hon Da Bac relic site.
