Within the framework of the working visit to Laos at the invitation of Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos General Vilay Lakhamphong, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security of Vietnam General To Lam, and the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Political Academy of the Lao People's Public Security Forces, on the morning of August 25.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos General Vilay Lakhamphong and other local leaders also attended the event.
This project is a gift from the Vietnamese Public Security Forces to the Lao counterpart, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (September 5, 1962) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977).
When the project of the Political Academy of the Lao People's Public Security Forces finishes, it will be another symbol of the special solidarity between the two Parties, the two states and the two peoples in general, and between the Vietnamese Public Security Forces and the Lao Public Security Forces in particular.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister To Lam expressed his belief that the project will meet training needs for teaching and learning of up to 1,200 students and 150 staff of the Political Academy of the Lao People's Police.
Minister To Lam also pledged that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will continue to support the Ministry of Public Security of Laos to standardize the training program and build capacity of the teaching staff of the Lao school.
