Minister To Lam holds talks with the Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office of the Republic of Korea

At the invitation of Korean law enforcement agencies, a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam led by Ministry of Public Security General To Lam paid a woking visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Prosecutor General Lee Won Seok expressed delight at seeing Minister To Lam again, and underlined that the visit to the Republic of Korea by Minister To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam would deepen the relationship between the two countries' law enforcement forces.

Minister To Lam sincerely thanked Mr. Lee Won Seok and other officials for welcoming and receiving the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, and stated that Vietnam always considers RoK as one of its important and long-term partners and wishes to expand the bilateral cooperation for the common interests of the two countries and peoples as well as for stability and peace in the region and the world. 

The guest cited the positive developments in various aspects of the Vietnam-RoK comprehensive strategic partnership.

On the basis of good relations between the two countries, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Supreme Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Korea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on countering transnational crimes in 2019, which has created a legal corridor for the two sides to effectively coordinate in the fight against crimes. 

The two sides have actively exchanged criminal records, cooperated in investigating and apprehending a number of Korean criminals hiding in Vietnam.

On the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and RoK, Minister To Lam suggested, the two agencies develop a plan to strengthen specific cooperation areas, such as crime prevention and control, coordination in the verification and investigation of specific cases, sharing of crime information, exchange visits of delegations at all levels, capacity building of law enforcement officials.

Minister To Lam also considered that the two sides need to boost coordination in ensuring security and safety for citizens of one country living, studying and working in the other.

Minister To Lam also wished that the Korean side would organize more training courses in the country for officers from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security on investigating crimes related to high technology, environmental crimes and human trafficking as well as on analysis and recovery of data and electronic evidence, and Korean language.

Agreeing with the recommendations of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Prosecutor General Lee Won Seok emphasized that, in the coming time, the two sides need to strengthen cooperation to further improve the efficiency of crime prevention and control, especially illicit drug trafficking and economic crime, contributing to firmly protecting the security and order of each country as well as the common interests of the two countries.

* On the same day, Minister To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam also visited the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea and the World Teakwondo Federation Headquarters.
