Minister To Lam hosts Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam
Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security hosted a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Vietnam Thomas Gass on the afternoon of May 16th, in Hanoi.

Addressing the meeting, Minister To Lam highly appreciated the active cooperation of the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam and Ambassador Thomas Gass in promoting the relationship between the two countries in general, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Swiss relevant agencies in particular.
To further promote the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Swiss law enforcement agencies, Minister To Lam recommended that the two sides should promote delegation exchange at all levels, step up negotiations to early sign bilateral agreements on extradition and transfer of sentenced persons and establish bilateral cooperation mechanisms on security and crime prevention.
The two sides need to further exchange pratical experience in law enforcement and crime prevention and fighting, especially in countering transnational crime, organized crime, drug-related crime, terrorism, high-tech crime and human trafficking, which involve in citizens of the two countries.
The two sides should jointly organize capacity building programs for law enforc officers, focusing on foreign languages, including German, English, French and Vietnamese, passport checking and fake documents detecting skills, counter-illegal immigration activities and information analysis and processing skills.
The two sides also agreed to enhance consultation and information exchange as well as provide supports for each other in implementing international treaties to which both sides are members, while actively and effectively contributing to multilateral cooperation mechanisms of the United Nations and INTERPOL.
On this occasion, Minister To Lam suggested that the Swiss side cooperate with the Vietnamese side in organizing professional seminars and training courses on countering transnational organized crime, cybercrime, terrorism and drug-related crime, exchanged information on counter-terrorism and organized capacity-building programs for the Vietnamese aviation security force, and support Vietnamese citizens living and working in Switzerland, contributing to deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Sincerely thanking Minister To Lam for the meeting, Ambassador Thomas Gass underlined that Switzerland always highly values the relationship with Vietnam, and that Swiss law enforcement agencies always wish to further strengthen the cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in the fields of common interest, especially in ensuring security and combating crimes.
