Minister To Lam meets former Japanese Prime Minister and other Japanese officials
During his trip to Japan, Minister To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation had a meeting with former Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide.
At the meeting, both host and guest agreed that the relationship between Vietnam and Japan is at the best stage in the past 50 years and developing in all fields.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Minister To Lam suggested that Mr. Suga Yoshihide use his influence to urge the Japanese side to boost the bilateral cooperation on defense, security and economics, provide new-generation ODA, diversify supply chains, and develop support industry in Vietnam.
The guest also wished that Mr. Suga Yoshihide would further support in expanding the bilateral cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to enter Japan, and ensuring security, safety, legal rights and interests, social security and favorable living conditions for nearly 500,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Japan.
* At the meeting with Deputy Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Kobayashi Fumiaki, Minister To Lam emphasized that Vietnam-Japan relations have developed fast in all fields of politics, economy, security and national defense.
According to him, the year of 2023 is a special milestone when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN-Japan partnership.
Minister To Lam emphasized that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security is committed to working closely with relevant Japanese ministries and agencies in ensuring security and safety for Japanese businesses and citizens in Vietnam, as well as maintaining security dialogue mechanisms and effectively implementing signed documents.
Mr. Kobayashi Fumiaki highly appreciated Minister To Lam's visit to Japan; expressed his delight at Vietnam's achievements in various fields, including cooperation in the fight against crime.
*At the meeting with Vice President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Yamada Yunichi on the same day, Minister To Lam emphasized that the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and JICA Office in Vietnam has achieved many substantive results.
Minister To Lam suggested Mr. Yamada Yunichi continue to pay attention to and support Vietnam - Japan relations on the basis of the agreements signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries on economy, defense and security, while providing new generation ODA, diversifying supply chains, developing support industries in Vietnam.
Minister To Lam also asked JICA to support the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in implementing human resource development projects, providing fire and rescue equipment and means, forestry and environmental equipment, patrol boats, training courses on cyber security, anti-terrorism for Vietnamese police.
JICA Vice President Yamada Yunichi affirmed that he will work closely with the Ministry of Public Security to expand cooperation areas that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is interested in.
* Meeting with former CEO of Mainichi Group and Director of Total Security Company Tsuneda Teruo, Minister To Lam said that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the two Japanese companies of Mainichi Group and Total Security Company have teamed up in cooperation activities, such as World Police Music Festival, slogan composing contest "Doraemon and traffic safety" (2016-2018), and Ekiden Run and Exchange events connecting Vietnam - Japan businesses.
Minister To Lam suggested Mr. Tsuneda Teruo continue to support Vietnam - Japan relations, especially the cooperation between Total Security Company and Mainichi Group and the Ministry of Public Security in organizing cultural and educational activities, tourism and meaningful exchanges between the two countries, especially in 2023 when the two countries celebrate 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations.
*On the same day, Minister To Lam visited, worked and talked with officials and employees of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan. Minister To Lam congratulated the staff of the Embassy on their achievements in recent times and wished all the staff of the Embassy would successfully fulfill their assigned tasks and strengthen the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan in an effective and substantive manner, making positive contributions to the development of the country.
