Minister To Lam said that the law project aims at simplifying procedures, speeding up the implementation of online administrative procedures, and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to apply for entry and exit as well as for foreigners to enter, exit, transit or reside in Vietnam, contributing to socio-economic development while still protecting national security and ensuring social order and safety in the country.
The law project also has additional regulations to further create favorable conditions for foreigners to enter and exit Vietnam.
This includes the additional regulations to extend the e-visa from 30 days to 3 months, which is valid for one time or multiple times, and amended and supplemented regulations to permit issuing electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories.
According to the law project, the Government, in consideration of national defense and security, and current laws, shall decide on a specific list of countries and territories that enjoy unilateral visa exemption, and their citizens with the temporary residence can stay in the country up to 45 days instead of 15 days.
