Minister of Public Security General To Lam hosted a meeting with Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam Julien Guerrier, paying a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Public Security when beginning his term of office in Vietnam, on the afternoon of November 16, in Hanoi.
Minister of Public Security General To Lam hosted a meeting with Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam Julien Guerrier, paying a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Public Security when beginning his term of office in Vietnam, on the afternoon of November 16, in Hanoi.
At the meeting, Minister To Lam suggested expanding cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and EU law enforcement agencies in the coming time, particularly cooperation in the field of preventing and combating transnational crimes, non-traditional security threats such as epidemics, climate change, food security, money laundering and emergencies.
The host considered that the two sides need to share information and consult on international and regional issues of mutual concern, closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and ASEAN - EU cooperation frameworks.
In the field of cybersecurity, Minister To Lam proposed that the EU actively join common efforts to build the legal framework on the issue of national sovereignty in cyberspace, strengthen policies and initiatives to promote peace, stability, cooperation and development in the Indo-Pacific region, while supporting Vietnam to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
The Ambassador affirmed that, in his capacity, he will promote cooperation and relations between the EU and Vietnam, and support cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and EU law enforcement agencies, contributing to firmly maintaining security and stability in the region and world.
