Minister To Lam highlighted the fine relations between Vietnam and the African National Congress (ANC) and the Communist Party of South Africa, and Vietnam had always supported the struggle of the South African people against the Apartheid.

He added that South Africa has now been the first and only African country which established “partnership for cooperation and development” with Vietnam.

Vietnam is an advocate of South Africa’s effort to promote relations with the ASEAN, Lam said, and hoped South Africa would support Vietnam in expanding its cooperation with the African Union and the Southern African Development Community.
