Leaders of the two ministries sign a cooperation deal in enhancing education on traffic safety at educational institutions in the 2022 – 2025 period.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Nguyen Van Long and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh co-chaired the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh said that students still lack skills to handle complex traffic situations and are not very aware of their responsibility for observing traffic regulations when participating in the traffic.

She stated, "Hopefully, this cooperation program will help 22 million students at all levels change their awareness of observing the Traffic Law, improve their responsibility towards themselves, their families and the community so that there are no tragic accidents like in the past time.”

Sharing the same view as Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long emphasized that the numbers of traffic accidents among students over the past time was alarming, and the consequences were serious because youth is the future of the country.

To limit traffic accidents for youth, the police and school should coordinate in educating them on traffic regulations, improving their skills to ride bikes and motorbikes, and raising their awareness of obeying the Traffic Law.

Further, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long suggested that the commune-level police force should be responsible for preschool and primary schools in their designated areas, district-level police force for secondary and high schools, and the provincial police force is in charge of tertiary education institutions.
