Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Cuban Ministry of Interior seek to strengthen cooperation
PSNews - Within the framework of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang’s official visit to Cuba from April 14th to April 16th, 2024, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, had talks with Member of Politburo and Minister of the Interior of Cuba Lieutenant General Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas.
At the meeting, Minister Lazaro Alberto Asialvarez Casas briefed the Vietnamese delegation on the situation in Cuba in general and the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba in particular.
He thanked the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for supporting the Cuban side with medical equipment, fire and rescue vehicles and equipment as well as training Cuban officers.
Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen emphasized that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security always stands side by side with the Cuban partner, exchange experience with the Cuban Ministry of the Interior in making policies to safeguard national security, and provide more support for the Cuban Ministry of the Interior.
During the talks, the two sides evaluated the results of bilateral cooperation in 2023, as well as discussed cooperation in ensuring national security, fighting crimes, building legal documents, as well as medicine, firefighting and rescue, logistical and technical support and capacity building of personnel of the two sides.
In the context of growing challenges facing global and regional security in 2024 and beyond, the two sides agreed on the importance of expanding and strengthening the bilateral cooperation for the benefit and national security of each country.
The two sides also agreed to further step up cooperation in maintaining public order and security, preventing and combating organised crimes, trans-national crimes, cyber crimes, terrorism, human trafficking, commercial and tourism-related crimes, new types of crimes, and non-traditional security threats, as well as in technical professional services.
The two ministries also agreed to jointly carry out scientific research projects, coordinate in applying new technologies and producing special function equipment, and organizing capacity building programs.
In the field of healthcare, the two ministries will continue boosting cooperation in cancer treatment, cerebral vascular intervention, organ transplantation, personnel training and technology transfer related to stem cells, gene, treatment methods of using antibodies and vaccines.
