MPS strengthens aviation cooperation with Airbus

Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung hosted a reception for Executive Vice President International of Airbus Wouter van Wersch, on March 14, in Hanoi. The meeting also saw the presence of Ambassador of the French Republic to Vietnam Olivier Brochet.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung affirmed that security and defense cooperation is a key pillar in the Vietnam-France bilateral relationship, significantly contributing to building mutual political trust, addressing common challenges and maintaining peace, stability and national interests of each country.
The host highlighted the positive results of bilateral cooperation achieved by the two sides in various fields, including crime prevention and control, illegal immigration control as well as capacity building of Vietnamese public security officers, over the past years.
The Vietnamese side and Airbus have obtained other fruitful outcomes of bilateral cooperation in civil aviation, aerospace, security and defense, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung added. Airbus aircraft, known for their high quality and advanced technology, have been effectively utilized by Vietnamese State-owned corporations and private enterprises, contributing to economic connectivity and national socio-economic development in the country.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung revealed that MPS established the Public Security Aviation Regiment under the Mobile Police Command, in March 2021, to meet new task requirements in the current situation, adding that the Ministry is currently constructing the Gia Binh Airport for the Public Security Air Force.
To further strengthen Vietnam-France relations in general and promote cooperation between MPS and Airbus in particular, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung proposed that Airbus continue to exchange and update information on new Airbus aircraft, share with the Public Security Air Force hands-on experiences in managing, operating and utilizing helicopters, as well as develop training programs for pilots and technical personnel of the Public Security Aviation Regiment.
Sincerely thanking Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung for the meeting, Airbus Executive Vice President International Wouter van Wersch congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development achievements, saying that Airbus has maintained strong partnerships with various Vietnamese partners, including MPS.
Mr. Wouter van Wersch pledged that Airbus will further enhance its cooperation with MPS by introducing its modern and most advanced helicopters to MPS, providing pilot and engineer training programs, as well as supporting aircraft operation and maintenance for the Public Security Air Force in the future.
