Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung highly appreciated the outcomes of cooperation between the functional units of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Lancang-Mekong Integrated Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation Center in recent years.

He also discussed orientations to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Lancang-Mekong Integrated Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation Center in response to common security challenges in the Mekong-Lancang region.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung underscored that the recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Lancang-Mekong Integrated Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation Center and the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Public Security marked a new milestone in bilateral cooperation, demonstrating the goodwill and commitment of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to enhancing international cooperation in combating transnational crime.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung proposed that the center continue to strengthen its role as a coordinator in promoting information sharing, capacity building and joint operations to combat transnational crimes such as human trafficking, cyber fraud, and drug-related offenses, contributing to maintaining regional security and order and sustainable development.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed on various directions to further strengthen cooperation between functional units of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Lancang-Mekong Integrated Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation Center.

Accordingly, the two sides reached consensus on enhancing the exchange and analysis of information related to emerging crimes in the region, while conducting joint operations to combat transnational crimes.

Furthermore, the two sides agreed to expand specialized training programs for regional law enforcement personnel and develop cooperation plans with clear roadmaps and timelines to enhance coordination effectiveness.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung expressed his belief that cooperation among law enforcement forces in the Mekong-Lancang region would continue to be expanded in an effective and substantive manner, making positive contributions to the region’s stability and development.
