MPS strengthens cooperation with RoK’s partners
PSNews - Within the framework of his visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) to attend the 6th Vietnam-RoK Deputy-Ministerial Meeting on Police Cooperation and the 1st RoK-ASEAN Police Cooperation Forum from November 25th to November 29th, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), had bilateral meetings with law enforcement agencies of the host country.
* At the meeting with Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) Cho Ji Ho, the two sides highly appreciated the positive results of cooperation between the two countries over the past time, especially in the field of security and crime prevention and control.
Regarding cooperation orientations for the coming time, the two head delegates reached consensus on further enhancing delegation exchange at all levels, promoting cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crime as well as strengthening relations between the provincial-level police departments of the two countries.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in citizen management, illegal immigration prevention and control, as well as citizen protection.
In addition, the two sides also consented to hold activities in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between MPS and KNPA, as well as the preparation for the 7th Deputy-Ministerial Meeting on Police Cooperation scheduled to take place in Vietnam in 2025.
* At the meeting with the Korean Supreme Prosecutors' Office (SPO), Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long and Prosecutor General Shim Woo Jung highly valued the efficiency and effectiveness of cooperation between the two agencies over the past time.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long thanked RoK’s SPO for the aid of sufficient equipment and facilities for the Counter-Narcotics Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam as well as the invitation of Vietnam to send police officers to the Asia-Pacific Information & Coordination Centre for Combating Drug Crimes as liaison officers, saying that the Korean agency’s support had contributed to enhancing the capabilities of preventing and fighting high-tech crimes of Vietnamese police forces.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long suggested that the two agencies enhance exchange of high-level and expert-level delegations, closely cooperate in preventing and combating transnational crime, support each other in personnel training as well as effectively implement the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the two agencies.
The guest also wished that RoK’s SPO would continue to support Vietnam’s MPS in building capacity of the police forces as well as organize conferences and seminars to share their hands-on experience in addressing new security challenges with Vietnamese partners.
* On the occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long also paid a visit to the Embassy of Vietnam in RoK.
