Police conduct firefighting and rescue drill in seaport
PSNews – The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department recently organized a firefighting and rescue drill at Tan Cang – Cat Lai Seaport, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).
This was a city-level fire-fighting, search and rescue drill with more than 1.947 participants and 116 vehicles from local functional forces.
The assumed scenario said that a ship carrying 1,500 containers (including 300 containers with flammable substances inside) accidently caught fire while docking at wharf B7, Tan Cang-Cat Lai port.
As soon as detecting the fire, the fire police division under the HCMC Police Department mobilized its force to race to the scene and in collaboration with other forces deployed efforts and assets to rescue victims and extinguish the fire.
The firefighting and rescue operation was implemented smoothly, synchronously by participating forces so the fire was quickly controlled before it could spread in the key area.
Deputy Director of the HCMC Police Department Senior Colonel Nguyen Thanh Huong said that such a drill was of importance as it provided a good chance for the local fire fighting force to improve their skills and increase the preparedness and readiness of forces and means for fire fighting and rescue work in all situations.
