Police to conduct general fire prevention and safety inspection

The Ministry of Public Security held a virtual conference with the participation of leaders of provincial-level people’s committees and police departments of all provinces and centrally-run cities on the morning of October 11 to roll out the Ministry of Public Security's Plan No.513 on general inspection of fire prevention and fighting plans nationwide.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Nguyen Van Long chaired the webinar.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long emphasized that local authorities and police forces should well understand the importance of the general inspection of fire prevention and safety plans in all provinces and cities, and that local police forces must seriously conduct fire prevention and safety inspection at 100% of the fire-prone buildings and business establishments. 

He added, all shortcomings and violations of fire prevention and safety must be strictly handled, and  the responsibility of organizations or individuals must be clarified.

The Deputy Minister asked the directors of provincial-level police departments to directly lead the general inspection and give guidance to the implementation of Plan No. 513 to all commune-level police. 

Local police units should actively advise the people's committees at all levels and coordinate with functional sectors in organizing the inspection, ensuring that all violations should properly be handled.

The business establishments that fail to meet fire prevention and safety standards or do not have enough firefighting equipment or good firefighting and safety plans must be closed till they fix all the issues.

In addition, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long also asked the people's committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities to coordinate closely with the Ministry of Public Security in conducting the general inspection of fire prevention and safety.
