President: Functional forces overcome numerous difficulties and challenges in the fight against illicit drugs
The President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong met with 140 role-models in the national counter-narcotic movement and families of 28 fallen officers in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, on June 14 at the Presidential Palace, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's appeal for patriotic emulation (June 11, 1948).
Presenting a report summarizing the achievements of police unists and officers in drug prevention and control, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc stated, the Standing Office of Drug Prevention and Control of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control, the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security have coordinated closely and effectively with the Party committees of the Central agencies in directing authorities and mass organizations from the Central level to local to draw up plans to fight illicit drugs and drug-related crime.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the leaders of the Party and State, President Vo Van Thuong sent best regards and wishes to all officers, soldiers and civil servants working in the counter-narcotic forces nationwide.
The President praised the in-charge forces, particularly the 140 typical units and individuals participating in the meeting, for their great effort, special feats and achievements in the fight against illicit drugs and drug-related crime, saying that they are nucleus in the national counter-narcotic movement.
