Program to protect children from social problems in Hue shows efficiency
The program of “Children with 3 Nots” (not breaking the law, not dropping out of school, not using stimulants), proposed by the police of Thuy Phu commune, Huong Thuy town, Thua Thien-Hue, have shown efficiency after years of implementation.
Police officers in Thuy Phu commune held a public information meeting in mid November in 8A village with the participation of primary and secondary school students, their parents and local officials.
The police gave briefings on relevant laws and advised children to avoid being involved in law offences.
The event was also the chance for the children to express their thoughts and desires.
The locality has seen an increase in the number of juvenile offenders since February 2020, said Le Viet Song, a Party official of 8A village.
Under the authority of the higher levels, officials of the village and the communal police coordinated to launch the “Children with 3 Nots” program.
As part of the program, the police increased dissemination of guidelines and policies of the Party, the laws of the State as well as laws related to domestic violence while taking approaches to prevent traffic accidents, cases of intentional injuries and sexual abuse against children.
After 2 years of implementation, the program has shown efficiency. Students have had better understanding of their own rights while parents have been equipped with knowledge of the law; Adults have become more aware of protecting, caring for and raising children. They have also had more knowledge of child abuse and known how to protect their children from committing illegal acts and prevent their children from dropping out of school, using stimulants.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hieu, Head of the Communal Police Post of Thuy Phu, said with the success of the program, the communal police advised the People’s Committee of Thuy Phu commune to further implement the program to encourage 100% children in the commune to go to school while no child abuses of drugs or stimulants.
