Public Security Forces’ foreign affairs work needs to follow the Party’s foreign policy: Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung

The Department of Foreign Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security organized a conference to summarize the sector’s work in 2023 and roll out ít 2024 work plan, on the morning of January 18, in Hanoi.

Reports at the meeting read that the Department of Foreign Affairs comprehensively carried out the overall orientations for foreign affairs of the People's Public Security Forces with the motto "The foreign affairs sector goes first and paves the way” for other sectors of the Public Security Forces and aiming at promoting "deep, substantive, stable and effective" international cooperation in support of all aspects of the People's Public Security Forces’ work.

Further, the public security foreign affairs sector has contributed largely to successful implemention of the Party's foreign policy over the past year.

In 2023, the Department of Foreign Affairs successfully organized 92 high-level meetings between leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and foreign partners in Vietnam and in other countries, and maintained, strengthened the cooperation and relations between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and its partners in a practical and effective manner as well as worked with foreign partners on the establishment of new cooperation mechanisms, including the Vietnam – Australia Ministerial-level Security Dialogue, Deputy Minister of Public Security Dialogue Mechanism on Ensuring Political Security between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of China, opening new opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and foreign partners.

Over the past year, the Department of Foreign Affairs has also assisted the People's Public Security Forces in expanding cooperation with law enforcement agencies and diplomatic representative agencies of other countries as well as international organizations while proactively and creatively using diplomatic means to ensure security, order and protect national interests.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung applauded  the achievements and work results of the Department of Foreign Affairs in 2023.

Regarding its major tasks in the coming year, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung emphasized that the Department of Foreign Affairs should ensure that the foreign affairs work of the People's Public Security Forces be in line with the foreign policy and strategy of the Party and State.
