Vietnam and Iran tighten cooperation in law enforcement

The Ministry of Public Security held an official welcoming ceremony on May 14 for a high-ranking delegation from the Iranian Law Enforcement Command led by Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan, Chief of the Iranian Law Enforcement Command, visiting Vietnam from May 13 to 16.

General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security presided over the welcoming ceremony.

After the welcoming ceremony, Minister To Lam and Commander Ahmad Reza Radan held talks, which also saw the presence of Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security.

At the talks, Minister To Lam and Commander Ahmad Reza Radan reviewed the results of cooperation achieved in all fields between the two sides.

The two sides agreed to further exchange delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, to explore potential opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the field of security and order; strengthen information exchange and promote professional coordination, especially information on global and regional security situations of mutual concern, and coordinate to handle transnational crimes and criminal cases involving citizens of the two countries.

The two sides also agreed to not allow any organization or individual to take advantage of one country's territory to carry out sabotage acts against the country; coordinate to safeguard senior leaders of one country visiting the other, ensure security and safety for the headquarters of representative agencies and citizens of one country in the other’s territory as well as expand cooperation in building professional capacity of personnel and training foreign languages, including Persian or Vietnamese, for officers of the two countries.

At the end of the talks, Minister To Lam and Commander Ahmad Reza Radan signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation” between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Iranian Law Enforcement Command.
