Vietnam, Cambodia promote cooperation in crime prevention and control
PSNews - A high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, led by Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, had talks with a high-ranking delegation of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha, on the afternon of July 13th, 2024.
Warmly welcome Minister Luong Tam Quang and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam’s MPS to Cambodia, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha congratulated Minister Luong Tam Quang upon his new appointment as Minister of Public Security.
The host expressed his delight at positive results of bilateral cooperation between the Vietnam’s MPS and the Cambodian Ministry of Interior in the first 6 months of 2024, and suggested that the two sides should further promote cooperation in crime prevention and control, focusing on combating drug-related crimes, human trafficking and transnational organized crimes, contributing to developing a peaceful borderline so as to boost bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment.
Sincerely thanking for the good sentiments of the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that he will try his best to promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of safeguarding national security, ensuring social order and safety in each country as well as preventing and combating all types of crimes along the shared border line.
At the talk, the two sides reviewed results of cooperation in the first 6 months of 2024 between the Vietnam’s MPS and the Cambodian Ministry of Interior.
Accordingly, in the first half of 2024, the two ministries regularly exchanged information and team up to settle all arising problems, while closely cooperating with each other in preventing and controlling crime, and ensuring security and order along the shared border lines, contributing to developing borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
The two heads of delegation also reached consensus that, in the coming time, the two sides should further promote information exchange and closely cooperate in preventing and fighting plots, tricks and acts by hostile forces to disunite Vietnam – Cambodian relationship, as well as not let a third party to take advantage of one country’s territory to carry out sabotage activities against the other country.
The two sides also agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in crime prevention and control, especially in combating transnational crimes such as drug trafficking, human trafficking and high-tech crimes, while coordinating to resolve issues related to Vietnamese expats living for a long time in Cambodia in line with policies and orientations agreed by leaders of the two countries.
