Vietnam - Laos enhance security cooperation
The 12th Security Co-operation Conference between Vietnam and Laos is held in Vientiane under the co-chair of Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security Sen. Lieut. Gen. Luong Tam Quang and his Laotian counterpart Sen. Lieut. Gen. Kongthong Phongvichith.
The 12th Security Co-operation Conference between Vietnam and Laos is held in Vientiane from March 2 to 4. The conference is under the co-chair of Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security Sen. Lieut. Gen. Luong Tam Quang and his Laotian counterpart Sen. Lieut. Gen. Kongthong Phongvichith.
At the conference, the two sides agreed that, despite difficulties due to natural disasters and especially the COVID-19 pandemic, the security forces of the two countries effectively implemented the Memorandum of Understanding of the 11th Vietnam - Laos Security Cooperation Conference in 2020, contributing to maintaining firmly national security of each country, particular security along the shared borderline.
In the coming time, the two sides consented to maintain the existing cooperation mechanisms between the security forces of the two countries while attaching important to information exchange via meetings and "hotlines" to quickly and effectively address the impacts of non-traditional security threats.
They also pledged to boost co-ordination and mutual support at international and regional security forums, and promote collaboration in preventing and fighting international terrorism in ASEAN countries and ensuring security for major events to be held in the two countries.
