Vietnamese and Lao police forces ensure order security along shared borderline
PSNews – Over the past time, the Ha Tinh Provincial Police Department has strengthened collaboration with the police forces in the Lao provinces of Bolikhamsai and Khammoune in preventing and controlling crime, and ensuring security and order along the shared borderline, contributing to building the sustainable Vietnam – Lao friendship.
Huong Son District (Ha Tinh Province) shares 56 kilometers of borderline with Laos, which has 2 border gates namely Cau Treo – Nam Pao and Da han – Nam Xac.
In recent years, criminals take advantage of the difficult terrains in the border area and bordercrossing trails to carry out illegal activities, including trading and transporting military weapons and prohibited goods, drug dealing, and organizing illegal immigration.
In order to ensure security and order in the border area, the police units in Huong Son District (Ha Tinh Province) and Khamkeut District (Bolikhamsai Province) annually organizes emulation movements and periodically brief local authorities and people on the security situation along the borderline.
The timely information exchange and smooth coordination between the two sides in the fight against crime have helped prevent illegal bordercrossings and criminal activities along the borderline.
The mountainous districts of Vu Quang and Huong Khe Districts in Ha Tinh Province also share 145 kilometers of border with the Lao provinces of Bolikhamsai and Khammoune.
In order to improve the border management and protection, in addition to the bilateral cooperation of the district-level police, over the years, the Ha Tinh Provincial Police Department and the Police Departments of Bolikhamsai and Khammoune provinces have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on ensuring security and border security.
The police units in Ha Tinh Province aclosely collaborated with their peers in Bolikhamsai and Khammoune provinces in actively managing and protecting border security. They also coordinated with the local military and border guard forces held regular meetings and information exchange with the aim of building a borderline of peace and long-lasting friendship.
Since 2020, the Vietnamese and Lao police units have organized 51 patrols with the participation of 362 officers while maintaining 25 key security checkpoints along the borderline guarded by hundreds of officers and soldiers.
