Vietnamese MPS hosts 11th Vietnam-Laos conference on cooperation in crime prevention and control
The conference on cooperation in crime prevention and control, maintenance of social order and safety between the police forces of Vietnam and Laos took place on January 19-20 in Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam.
The Vietnamese delegation was led by Lieutenant General Do Van Hoanh, Chief of the Office of the Investigation Police Agency (OIPA) under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS). Representatives from various specialized agencies under the Vietnamese MPS and police departments of the 10 provinces bordering Laos (Dien Bien, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum) joined the delegation.
The Lao delegation saw the participation of leaders of the Police Directorate under the Lao MPS and the police departments of the Lao localities bordering Vietnam.
The conference is an annual cooperation mechanism and a favorable forum for the police forces of the two countries to inform each other of the crime and social order situations in Vietnam and Laos.
The conference also aims to review the implementation of the signed agreements and discuss cooperation plans between the two sides in the time to come.
At the 11th conference, participants also discussed issues related to five specific fields of cooperation between the two sides in crime prevention and control, including fight against drug crime, economic crime, smuggling and environmental crime, as well as the cooperation in forensic science and application of scientific, technological advances criminal investigation.
On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation of the Lao MPS worked with the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department to exchange practical experience in crime prevention and control in the border areas of the two countries.
