Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security to support Laos’ Ministry of Public Security on key projects

Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc hosted talks with Deputy Minister of Public Security of Laos Lieutenant General Khamking Phuilamanyvong to discuss the cooperation between the two Ministries on the morning of May 7th, in Hanoi.

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc welcomed the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Laos, led by Deputy Minister Khamking Phuilamanyvong, to Vietnam.

The meeting aimed to discuss issues related to the implementation of two cooperation projects, namely the project on building national population database and identification card management systems for Laos and the project on building a drug rehabilitation center in Vientiane, Laos.

The two sides affirmed that the first project with numerous subprojects is very important and complex, and receives much attention of the Party and Government leaders of the two countries.

Over the past time, the project has achieved positive results, thanks to the close direction of the two ministries’ leaders and the effort of relevant agencies and units.

At the talks, the two Deputy Ministers discussed approaches to further accelerate the project, underlining the importance of widespread and effective information dissemination on the significance and benefits of the project to get consensus and support of the Party and State’s leaders and the people.

Appreciating the close coordination of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for the support and assistance, Deputy Minister Khamking Phuilamanyvong revealed that the Lao Ministry of Public Security would send delegations to Vietnam to learn experience in operating and managing the National Population Database and identification card management system of Vietnam.

Regarding the project on building a drug rehabilitation center in Vientiane, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc highly appreciated  the location to build the center chosen by two sides’ relevant agencies, and released that relevant agencies under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security are closely coordinating with Lao counterparts to begin the construction in July 2024.
