Vietnam’s MPS builds drug rehabilitation center for Lao MPS
PSNews - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos General Vilay Lakhamphong and Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang co-chaired a groundbreaking ceremony of a new drug rehabilitation center in Huoi Thon village, Phon Hong district, on the morning of July 12th, 2024, in Vientiane.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that, over the past time, the cooperation between the two countries’ public security forces at all levels has been expanded in several fields, including exchanging information and professional experience as well as effectively combating all types of crimes, especially drug-related crimes, human trafficking and high-tech crimes.
In the spirit of mutual support, the Vietnam’s MPS decided to build a drug rehabilitation center for the Lao MPS in Vientiane, with a capacity of 500 patients and working facilities for 70 managers and staff.
Vietnam’s MPS considers the to-be-built drug rehabilitation center as a symbol of the special solidarity and close friendship between the two Parties, States and Peoples in general, between the two public security forces in particular.
The groundbreaking ceremony was part of the celebration of the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam – Laos diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - 2024) and the 47th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 – 2024), contributing to strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries, for the immortality and prosperity of the two countries.
On behalf of the Lao Party, State and People, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos General Vilay Lakhamphong sincerely thanked the Vietnam’s MPS for its support in building a drug rehabilitation center for Laos.
The Lao Deputy Prime Minister believed that the center will become a symbol of the Laos – Vietnam friendship, contributing to implementing the Lao National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control as well as helping the Lao Public Security Forces rehabilitate drug addicts more effectively.
