Vietnam hospital successfully applies CRT implantation in heart failure
A male patient named P.V.C (aged 53, residing in Bien Hoa, Dong Nai) has had a chronic heart disease but received outpatient treatment.
Recently, he often had difficulty in breathing, especially after sleeping for several hours, which made him sit up to breathe. Besides, he also suffered leg edema.
The doctors of the Internal Cardiology Department and Arrhythmias Treatment Department of Cho Ray hospital detected that the patient was facing a number of dangerous symtoms, including severe heart failure with left ventricular ejection reduced by 21% (<35%).

The heart failure was deteriorating although he had earlier received intensive internal medication. The doctors then decided to implant CRT device to the patient.
Before the implantation, the patient had been carefully examined by the doctors.
After one hour and a half, the doctors successfully conducted the surgery. During the operation, the doctors had to face huge challenges as the patient had difficulties in breathing.
The echocardiographic results after the CRT implantation showed that his heart’s ejection function rose from 21% to 35% while the heart chamber reduced from 72 mm to 64 mm with no loss of heart synchronism.
2 months since the implantation operation, on July 21st, the patient returned to Cho Ray hospital for re-examination and he is now in a perfect health condition.
