Vietnamese student wins big at international programming contest
PSNews – A software project designed by an 11th grade student from Soc Trang Province has became 1st runner-up of the 2023 Coolest Project Malaysia.
Nguyen The Vinh, a grade 11 student at Hoang Dieu High School, Soc Trang City, is very passionate about scientific research, especially in the field of information technology.
With the mentorship of teacher Tran Thi Kim Thoa, Vinh successfully developed the software project named “Software for scoring multiple choice tests by image processing”.
His project was selected by the Dariu Foundation to participate in the final round of the Coolest Project Malaysia (a programming competition) in November.
The software provides teachers with solutions to score student’s tests on smartphones by using image processing rather than scanners, and can be easily stored and managed on Google Drive.
His project has beat many other entries to win the 1st runner-up prize at the final round of the Coolest Project Malaysia 2023 on November 26.
Coolest Projects Malaysia is a science and technology competition for high school students under 18 years old. It is held annually, starting from 2019. This year’s competition received 500 projects from students worldwide.
The final round, took place on November 25-26, saw the participation of students from 7 countries and territories including Vietnam.
