PSNews – A non-commissioned police officer named Nguyen Thai Hiep of the Binh Dinh province in 3 days of the most recent intense flooding has saved 3 lives, including a pregnant woman.

According to the Phu Cat District Police, the unit has proposed the Director of the Binh Dinh Provincial Police to reward Nguyen Thai Hiep of the Cat Tien Commune Police Station for his bravery saving many lives in the flooded area.

At around 1am on December 13, Nguyen Van Hiep, while preparing to rest after a day of helping people overcome consequences of floods, received a phone call from the Cat Tien Commune Police Chief. His leader asked him to coordinate with relevant units to rescue people, who were stuck inside a truck on provincial road No. 640.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Hiep.

Hiep then drove his canoe toward provincial road No. 640 and quickly reached the truck. At the scene, Hiep boldly crossed dangerous floodwaters and took the driver out of his truck. He then asked local rescue forces in keeping the vehicle and goods safe.

Needless to say how grateful the rescued driver was to officer Nguyen Thai Hiep. He said, "Without the Cat Tien commune police assistance in general and Mr. Nguyen Thai Hiep in particular, I might have been dead.”

Earlier, on December 12, Hiep also rescued a man from flooding. Later he rescued a pregnant woman, who was swept away from his husband while trying to cross the flooded road.
