Police officer got post-exposure prophylaxes 3 times

PSNews – A brave police officer in Ho Chi Minh City, named Le Thanh Vu has taken anti-retroviral medications (ARVs) or post-exposure prophylaxes (PEP) for at least 3 times after he had been injured while chasing HIV suspects.

Le Thanh Vu, a scout of the task force under the Criminal Police Division of the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Police, has together with his comrades destroyed and seized a number of dangerous criminal gangs, setting many outstanding feats.

Since 2010, he has joined comrades in eliminating 614 criminal gangs and arresting 2,500 suspects, including 16 special cases and 614 dangerous criminals.  Vu, himself, handled 2 robbery cases and caught 15 suspects. Vu also destroyed 15 gangs and took 500 suspect into custody.

To achieve such feats, serving to maintain peace for the people, Vu has experienced a number of motorbike crashes while riding on his bike at 100-150km/h to catch suspects.

He has also taken ARVs for three times after he had been injured in struggles with HIV suspects.

For his outstanding achievements, in 2016, Le ThanhVu has been selected as an Emulation Fighter of the basic level. He then was also voted as a typical young citizen of Ho Chi Minh City in 2016.

Sharing the honor, Vu said, “As a scout of the task force, I always focus on work to complete all assigned tasks. I promise myself to be a good soldier of the Public Security Forces, deserving the people’s trust in the forces.”
