Bac Ha Horse Racing Festival opens
The horse race of Ba Ha is a unique tourism product as it holds traditional features. The race is held annually in the harvest season of Bac Ha plums.
After the past 12 editions, the race has now become a familiar playground for barefoot racers and an attractive tourism product. In 2019, the event was upgraded into a community-level cultural festival. It serves as a venue for local ethnic groups to exchange their cultural and artistic features, as well as to introduce and promote the special values of Bac Ha’s culture in particular and Lao Cai’s in general.
The festival will last until June 9 with various attractive activities. The opening ceremony and a street festival took place on June 1 at Dinh Hoang A Tuong Square and Ngoc Uyen Street.
There is also a plum festival and cycling tours to local plum farms, a rose and wine festival called “Color of love and happiness”, tours to Hoang A Tuong Palace, Bac Ha fair, community tourism villages, and photo exhibitions.
