Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch in Vietnamese released
PSNews – The Vietnamese version of “The Goldfinch” – a famous novel of American writer Donna Tartt, which won the Pulitzer prize for literature in 2014, has officially been released on December 6.
The Vietnamese version of "The Goldfinch" was translated and edited by translator Nguyen An Ly and was published by the World Publishing House and Omegas Plus. "The Goldfinch" is Donna Tartt's third novel and it took her 11 years to complete it.
The novel is about Theo Decker – a 13 year-old New Yorker who survived in an accident that killed his mother. Since his father has abandoned him, Theo lives with his rich friend's family.
After that tragedy, Theo felt the whole world is against him, so what he is attached to is a painting named "The Goldfinch" by the Dutch artist Carel Fabritius from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which reminds him of his beloved mother. However, the painting, with its mysterious attraction, gradually leads Theo into the world of crime.
Critics and readers have all highly valued this novel. “The Goldfinch” was also selected as the novel of 2013 by Amazon and listed as a Best-seller by The New York Times during 39 weeks.
In 2014, Donna Tartt was chosen by Time Magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People”.
