International visitors to Vietnam continue to increase

 The number of international tourists visiting Vietnam is up by 41.4% as the country welcomes back international visitors thanks to the resumption of international flights. 

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first quarter of 2022, Vietnam welcomed nearly 91,000 foreign visitors, up 89.1% in comparison with the same period last year. Foreign arrivals by air accounted for 90.5% of the total number of visitors.

Meanwhile, revenue from accommodation and catering services in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 1.2%; tourism revenue in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 1.9% compared to the same period last year as Vietnam fully reopened borders to tourists.

The above figures show positive signals about the recovery of the tourism industry in 2022. 

Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that the reopening of tourism from March 15 is a very important milestone for Vietnam's tourism industry.

The reopening not only recovers the economy but also affirms that Vietnam is a safe and friendly destination; contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnam's tourism in the world.

The entire tourism industry is currently trying to best prepare for the safe, efficient and quality reopening of tourism activities under new normal conditions from March 15, with expectations for a year of revival growth.
