Medlar flower in full bloom in Son La mountainous village

The highlands village of Nam Nghiep in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district, in Son La province is filled these days with pure white medlar flowers. Medlar is a tree with many uses, and provides both forest coverage and incomes for the people of Nam Nghiep.

Medlar is one of Muong La's signature flowers. When in bloom, the flowers cover the trees from root to top.

The medlar flower gives a blazing white appearance to the entire tree.Tourist can enjoy the endless rows of flowers that stretch until the horizon and fresh air.

The medlar flower season usually lasts from the end of February to the beginning of April of the solar calendar, but the most beautiful and blooming time is the first half of March.

White flowers bloom in clusters of 3-5 flowers and like plum and pear flowers, but the pistil is yellow and lasts longer.
