New community-based tourism village opened in Kon Tum
PSNews - Vi Ro Ngheo village in Kon Plong District, Kon Tom Province, is now officially recognized as a community-based tourism village after three years of development.
According to the People's Committee of Kon Plong District, the Vi Ro Ngheo community-based tourism village is the second of this kind in the district, following the Kon Pring community-based tourism village.
The village, located 40 km away from Mang Den town, has 63 households and roughly 300 residents, all of whom are Xo Dang ethnic minority. It is surrounded by rivers, waterfalls, lakes, paddy fields, and forests with rich biodiversity.
According to Mr. Pham Van Thang, Vice Chairman of Kong Plong District People’s Committee, the local authority has mobilized every households to rebuild our cultural values and formed groups specializing in growing vegetables, providing chicken, duck, and pork to cook for tourists.
Vi Ro Ngheo is also considered a “heaven” of dia lan (cymbidium or boat orchids) where the native orchids can be found everywhere in the forests to the gates and fences of local houses.
As of now, the village has collected and propagated about 1,000 pots of boat orchids and other kinds of orchids, as well as conserved five hills of orchids, myrtle flowers, and melastoma flowers.
