A total of 68 fresh local cases of the SARS-CoV-2 virus were detected between 6 a.m. and midday on May 31, taking the total number of infections to 5,733, according to the Ministry of Health.
More coronavirus patients in Da Nang and Quang Ngai who are negative for SARS-CoV-2 have been discharged from hospital. |
The newly detected cases recorded in six localities comprise Bac Giang (48), Hanoi (12), Bac Ninh (4), Long An (2), Dak Lak (1), and Da Nang (1).
The latest cases found in Bac Giang mainly occurred in isolation and lockdown areas and relate to workers based at industrial zones, while cases in Hanoi are closely linked with previous outbreaks involving individuals who have been placed into quarantine.Following the latest discovery, the nation has confirmed 5,733 local infections along with 1,503 imported ones.
Most notably, a total of 4,163 locally-transmitted cases have been confirmed in the latest novel coronavirus (COVID-19) wave which hit the country in late April.
The morning of May 31 also saw the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC) state that 27 additional F1 cases have been confirmed as positive for SARS-CoV-2.
Since April 29, the capital has documented 209 positive COVID-19 cases, with approximately 50 being recorded at the concentrated isolation area of Son Tay Military School since May 23. Indeed, May 30 alone also saw Hanoi log 35 more locally-transmitted cases.
Faced with this situation, the Hanoi CDC has sent a report to the Hanoi Department of Health which proposes reducing the density of isolation areas, particularly the density of people in their accommodation, to limit the spread of the virus. This should be done along with continuing to strictly comply with anti-pandemic regulations enforced in isolation areas.
Along with Hanoi, other localities such as Tra Vinh, Binh Duong, and Long Anh also reported the detection of some new positive COVID-19 cases in the morning.
Since the recurrence of the pandemic last month, the virus has spread to 34 provinces and cities nationwide, with more than 4,000 local infections being recorded.
Meanwhile, Da Nang Lung Hospital announced on May 31 that four COVID-19 cases were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the virus.
After being discharged from hospital, they will continue to undergo a 14 day isolation period in line with regulations set by the Ministry of Health
Moreover, one COVID-19 patient in neighbouring Quang Ngai province was also released after testing negative for SARS- CoV-2 three times.
