PSNews - The authority of Da Nang City on June 22 confirmed that a pod of dolphins has been spotted swimming near Son Tra Peninsula.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu, representative of the Son Tra Peninsula Management Board, at least three dolphins swimming in a group were spotted near Mui Sung and Huc Lo.

Earlier, on the morning of June 22, a video clip shared by Facebook account Vo Nguyen Thai Duy shows a pod of dolphins leaping over a meter out of the water.

The video clip has gone viral on social media and sparked excitement among local people. Many Vietnamese netizens remarked that it was a "strange" and "rare" phenomenon.

This is the first time locals have observed the mammals swimming near the peninsula, Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu said.

Elsewhere in Vietnam in recent years, dolphins have appeared in groups in the waters off Hoi An Town in the central province of Quang Nam and Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s largest island in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.
