Free heart disease screening carried out for needy children in Thua Thien Hue

According to Hue City Central Hospital, every year, tens of thousands of Vietnamese children, many of them living in difficult circumstances, are detected with congenital heart disease.

Over the past 15 years, the “Heart for Children” program has offered surgery costs to over 6,500 pediatric patients with heart diseases and organized 87 free congenital heart disease screening programs and found congenital heart diseases for nearly 150,000 children in disadvantaged areas across Vietnam.

This year marked the second occasion that the "Heart for Children" program had been carried out in Thua Thien Hue.  After the screening, poor child patients requiring intervention/surgery will receive consultations from specialized doctors for free treatment.

Thanks to the cutting-edge development of modern medicine, many pediatric patients have received surgical intervetion from the early stage so they could grow up normally.
