More than 6,000 patients discharged from Field Hospital No. 3
Some 6,300 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the Field Hospital No. 3, based in Binh Khanh resettlement area, An Khanh ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.
Since it was officially open, the hospital has admitted over 8,000 COVID-19 patients, said Doctor Ly Quoc Cong, Head of the Clinical Ward of Field Hospital No 3.
Each day, hundreds of patients recovered, Cong said, the hospital has once discharged some 1,600 patients a day.
Its intensive care unit (ICU) with a capacity of 200 beds has been set up in the basement of the building to treat COVID-19 patents suffering respiratory failure and needing urgent oxygen supply.
Doctors at the hospital stay ready to take any severe case to the ICU, and try their best to treat patients, including serious cases, at the hospital without transferring them to higher-level hospitals.
The field hospital was initially assigned to receive and take care of asymptomatic cases, however, due to the serious situation in the city, the field hospital then admitted and treated severe cases to ease tension for higher level hospitals.
