Opportunities for Vietnamese workers to work in Greece
Greece is experiencing a shortage of 60,000 workers in agriculture and food processing and 50,000 others in the construction and tourism industries.
On August 8, leaders of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) had a meeting with representatives of the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Greece to discuss cooperation in bringing Vietnamese labourers to work in Greece in the agricultural sector.
At the meeting, representative of the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Greece said that they want Vietnam to send workers to the Mediterranean country to work in agriculture.
Due to the European Union's tightening labor admission policy, farmers of the Greek Union, 300 in total, are expanding their search for new labor markets such as Vietnam, which provides high-quality, safe and hard-working labor.
Greece is experiencing a shortage of 60,000 workers in agriculture and food processing and 50,000 others in the construction and tourism industries.
Earlier, the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs has allowed three firms to send a combined 150 laborers to Greece this year. The employees will work in Greece’s agriculture sector for two years while receiving minimum monthly salaries of 803 euros (US$889).
