Vietnam ranks third at International Chemistry Olympiad
PSNews - According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam ranked third in the 55th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2023, with all four students winning medals, including three golds and one silver.
The gold medals went to Cao Dinh Son, a 12th grader from Ha Tinh High School for Gifted Students in the central province of Ha Tinh; Nguyen Kim Giang, a 12th grader from Bac Ninh High School for Gifted Students in the northern province of Bac Ninh; and Nguyen Manh Khoi, a 12th grader from the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences under the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Elsewhere, Mai Van Duc, a 12th grader from Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students in the central province of Nghe An, grabbed a silver medal.
Most notably, two of the Vietnamese students, were named in the list of the top 10 contestants who scored the highest points in the competition.
The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the outstanding performances of the Vietnamese team at the IChO 2023, continue to affirm the quality of spearheading general education and the right direction, in the work of detecting and nurturing talented students.
This year, the Vietnamese delegation continued to maintain its position among the leading teams at the IChO competition, ranking third in terms of gold medals. In addition, two Vietnamese students were among the top 10 candidates with the highest scores.
In recent years, the Vietnamese team has achieved impressive results, including four golds in 2020, two golds and one silver in 2021, and four golds in 2022.
