Vietnam donates 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Laos
Vietnam has decided to donate 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Laos to help the neighbouring country combat the virus.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the announcement at a press briefing in Hanoi on January 8, highlighting the results of his talks with visiting Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh.
This is a special gift from the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Party, State and people of Laos to support their fight against COVID-19, said PM Chinh.
He said the two PMs held open talks and recorded many important results in bilateral cooperation. They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The two PMs later launched the Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022, with numerous activities to be held throughout the year to mark 60 years of diplomacy and 45 years of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
Laos Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh arrived in Hanoi on January 8 morning, beginning a three-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
This is Viphavanh’s first visit to Vietnam in his capacity as Prime Minister of Laos.
