Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen meets Venezuela’s Vice President
PSNews - A high-ranking delegation from the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, paid a courtesy call on Sectoral Vice President for Citizen Security cum Minister of Internal Relations, Justice and Peace Remigio Ceballos on April 18th, 2024.
The meeting was in the framework of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang’s official visits to Cuba and Venezuela from April 14th to April 19th.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen highly credited Venezuela’s Government and people for their achievements in developing and defending the country although facing lots of internal and external challenges and difficulties over the past time.
Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen expressed delights at positive developments in relations and cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela, saying that the two countries provided mutual support to each other at international forums and organizations, especially supporting each other in the run for the UN Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term. In the field of law enforcement, both Vietnam and Venezuela are members of many international treaties and organizations on crime prevention and combat.
For his part, Vice President Remigio Ceballos suggested the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam assist the Venezuelan Ministry of Internal Relations, Justice and Peace in fire and rescue equipment, forensic examination, technology and logistics as well as personnel training.
To further promote cooperation in law inforcement, the two sides agreed to enhance high-level delegation exchanges while sharing experience in countering terrorism and riot, preventing and combating transnational crimes such as fugitive tracking, human trafficking, drug trafficking, money laundering, environmental crimes, high-tech crimes so as to establish regular and periodic exchange mechanisms at all levels.
The two ministries also agreed to coordinate in organizing conferences and seminars on emerging security threats and challenges and non-traditional security issues affecting security and order in each country.
Another focuses of cooperation between the two countries in the coming time include jointly holding personnel training programs, promoting negotiations on cooperation documents such as agreement on extradition, agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and agreement on transnational crimes prevention and combat, contributing to creating a legal basis for bilateral security cooperation between the two sides.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen conveyed an invitation to visit Vietnam from Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security of Vietnam General To Lam to Vice President Remigio Caballos, to further consolidate the relationship between Vietnam and Venezuela in general and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Internal Relations, Justice and Peace of Venezuela in particular.
