Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son works with Bac Giang and Bac Ninh police

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), worked with the Provincial Police Departments of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang, the two localities with large numbers of cases of COVID-19 infections, via video conferencing.

Leaders of the two provincial police departments briefed Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son and other participants on the work of prevention and combat of the pandemic in their provinces. They also gave proposals to the higher levels.

Colonel Nguyen Quoc Toan, Director of Bac Giang provincial police, gave the participants a quick review of the situation of COVID-19 in the province. Accordingly, the province recorded some 800 cases and some 60,000 people with close contacts with the infected. The pandemic situations in Dinh Tram and Quang Chau industrial parks remained complicated.

The province is running 97 concentrated quarantine facilities, 10 treatment centers, 2 field hospitals and will open another field hospital soon. Over 900 medical checkpoints are operational.

The provincial police force also tries its best to ensure security and safety for the election while strictly applying COVID prevention regulations at polling stations. Some 1,000 police officers and soldiers are expected to cast their votes at the headquarters of the provincial police department.

Due to complicated developments in the local COVID situation, the provincial police halted the issuance of chip-based ID cards. The provincial police have completed over 80% of the applications for  new ID cards.

The Mobile Police Command has so far sent 476 mobile police officers and soldiers to assist the local police in Bac Giang to join local forces in 200 checkpoints and 4 patrol teams.

Senior Colonel Bui Chien Thang, Vice Director of Bac Ninh provincial police said, local police have been deployed to over 400 medical checkpoints across the province.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son spoke highly of the sense of responsibility and effort of the police of the two provinces in pandemic prevention and control. He also noted that the MPS has ordered emergency aid to the two pandemic-hit provinces.

In addition to financial and medical supports to the two provinces, the MPS also deployed 500 mobile police officers and soldiers to assist the provincial police of Bac Giang.

The deputy minister finally gave directions to the two provincial police departments on prevention and combat of the pandemic.
