Efforts to control crime in industrial zones of Binh Duong

Binh Duong is located in the southern key economic zone. The province now has 29 industrial parks, 17 industrial clusters, and an industry-service-urban complex attracting nearly 19,000 domestic and foreign businesses.
In recent years, the economy in the province has witnessed steady growth (in 2016, GDP increased by 8.5%). However, the number immigrant workers in the area reaches more than 950,000 people, making the province one of the 18 key localities of complicated crime situation in Vietnam.
Senior Colonel Nguyen Hoang Thao, Director of the Police Department of Binh Duong province, said: "Recently, the police force has actively implemented measures to prevent and attack criminals in various key areas and industrial clusters to control criminal activities.
From 2011 to 2016, the provincial police carried out 16 campaigns to raid criminals in key areas. Particularly, functional forces cracked down on 256 dangerous criminal gangs, including some operating in the IZs.
In addition to the establishment of two police stations in the Song Than Industrial Park and VSIP, the Binh Duong Provincial Police focused on developing crime prevention models, particularly in key areas.
