MPS meets public security deputies to National Assembly

The event also saw the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security and some other leaders of the MPS’s functional units.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam pointed out that, the sixth session of the 14th NAis the last session in 2018. Therefore, besides reviewing and issuing decisions on the law-making affairs, the NAalso spends a lot of time on supreme monitoring and deciding important issues regarding the socio-economic situation as well as the State budget.

Especially, the NA also carries out important work, such as conducting vote of confidence on officials holding positions elected or approved by the NAand considers and approves the appointment of personnel.
The Minister of Public Security is authorized by the Prime Minister to present the Report on the Prevention and Fight against Crimes and Law Violations in 2018. The NA is to adopt nine bills and give opinions on six other bills. Among these to-be-adopted bills, there are bills drafted by the MPS, namely the Amended People’s Public Security Law, the Amended Law on Amnesty, the Law on Protection of State Secrets, and the Amended and Supplemented Law on a number of articles in the Law on Enforcement of Civil Judgments.
Therefore, Minister To Lam asked public security NA deputies to well manage their work and participate fully in plenary discussion sessions as well as those of their respective committees and groups and giveideas on draft laws and important issues on socio-economic development, defense and security maintenance, contributing to the success of the session.
Minister To Lam stressed that the NA deputies must uphold the sense of responsibility when participating in the NA’s and other committees’discussion and activities, contribute ideas to draft laws related to security and order to ensure that all bills drafted by the MPS submitted to the NA will be passed with the highest vote rates.
Regarding the socio-economic issues as well as supervisory and other important issues to be considered and scrutinized at the session, Minister To Lam urged the NA deputies to be active in giving ideas both at plenary discussion sessions and in groups and exchanging related information on the results ofensuring security and order throughout the year, especially on the issues that capture the attention of the public, on the sidelines of the NA session.
The deputies should also convey ideas on policies on building draft laws related to the Public Security Forces to other NA deputies during discussion sessions with the aim of seeking more support for the public security forces, facilitating the forces in fulfilling the tasks entrusted by the Party, the State, the National Assembly and the people.
