At the meeting with Ambassador of Canada to Vietnam Ping Kitnikone, the Vietnamese official expressed pleasure over positive developments in Vietnam – Canada ties in the past time.
Minister To Lam then briefed the ambassador on socio-economic and political development of the Central Highlands and the sub-region’s potentials that are being promoted by the Central Highlands provinces such as industrial trees cultivation, fine processing of agricultural products and vocational training.

The Head of the Central Highlands Steering Committee then emphasized that the two countries, with their strengths, should further expand cooperation, especially in the field of trade and investment; official development assistance; education and training; and people-to-people exchange.
According to the Public Security Minister, Canada now has many investment projects in Vietnam, including projects on mining, tourism and services, which are also the strengths of the Central Highlands. Therefore, in the future, the two sides should continue to closely coordinate to create the best conditions for Canadian enterprises to invest in Vietnam in general and in the Central Highlands in particular, affirmed Minister To Lam.
Ambassador Ping Kitnikone, for her part, spoke highly of big developments in Vietnam – Canada ties, saying her country is ready to back Vietnam in dealing with growing challenges such as climate change, droughts and food safety.
The Canadian Ambassador also underscored the need to expand cooperation between the two sides in economy, trade and investment.
The same day, Minister Lam also received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Vietnam Ted Osius and Mary Etta Tarnowka, Consul General of the United States in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam highly valued contributions of the US Ambassador to Vietnam in heightening bilateral relations between Vietnam and the US, saying that the bilateral relationship saw many positive results in the fields of politics, economy, culture, security and defense.
Minister To Lam pointed out that, in recent years, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the law enforcement agencies of the US has made much progress in various fields.
He hoped that ambassador Ted Osius would continue contributing to strengthening bilateral relations, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the US in general and between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the US’s law enforcement agencies in particular.
Ambassador Ted Osius, for his part, thanked Minister To Lam for the reception and showed his impression on the achievements attained by Vietnam in general and the Central Highlands in particular in the past time.
The US is very interested in cooperating with the Central Highlands in tapping its potential areas, affirmed Ambassador Ted Osius.
