Minister To Lam works with Nghe An police

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee and Minister of Public Security on March 15 led a delegation to work with the Provincial Police Department and Fire Prevention and Fighting Police of Nghe An.

The delegation of the MPS was accompanied by Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.

Leaders of the Nghe An Police briefed participants in the working session on the activities and outcomes of the provincial police force in 2017. Accordingly, the provincial police force thoroughly grasped the local situation, advised the higher levels and local authorities to promptly settle various arising issues related to security and order as well as incidents in ethnic minority areas.

In 2017, the rate of the criminal cases in Nghe An reduced 0.48% while the rate of the solved criminal cases reached 82.7% in 2017 and 83.8% in the first quarter of 2018. 

The State management of security and order has been strengthened and traffic accidents decreased in all three categories (the number of cases, the number of injuries and the number of deaths). After wrapped up, the Nghe An Provincial Police Department was awarded with the “Excellent Emulation” Flag in the movement “Protecting National Security” 2017 by the Government.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam applauded the achievements by the Nghe An Provincial Police in the past time.

He also asked the provincial police force to strive to maintain political security, social order and safety; focus on Party building and force building. 

The minister urged the provincial police force to well implement their political missions; to grasp the situation; to promptly discover, prevent and defeat conspiracies and activities of hostile and reactionary forces; and neutralize all plots and activities of terrorism and sabotage on time. 

Minister Lam also asked the police force of Nghe An to promote their role in enhancing the efficiency of social and professional prevention approaches and control criminal crimes, especially drug-related crimes.

On the same day, Minister Lam and the delegation also worked with the Fire Prevention and Fighting Unit of Nghe An.

According to reports delivered by leaders of the Nghe An Provincial Fire Police on the fire prevention and fighting in the province in 2017, the unit took various measures to prevent fire and fight fire incidents in local residential areas, facilitating provincial socio-economic development and urbanization in local towns and cities.

The provincial fire unit also promoted dissemination drives to raise public awareness of fire prevention and fight. Particularly, it coordinated with the provincial radio and television station to broadcast a monthly program named “Fire Safety”. It also actively held on-site professional training and refresher courses for local firefighters.

By now, over 90% of the establishments under the state management of the provincial fire prevention and fighting police unit in Nghe An province have set up grassroots-level and specialized fire prevention and fighting teams while 100% of the province’s communes, wards and towns have set up civilian self-defense teams responsible for firefighting.

Minister Lam appreciated the efforts and achievements of the fire-fighting forces of Nghe An. He also urged the Fire Police Unit of Nghe An to actively advise to local Party committees and authorities to deploy plans to implement Instruction No. 47 of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on enhancing the leadership of the Party in fire prevention and fighting as well as the Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting, directives and decisions by the Prime Minister on fire prevention and fighting.

He also asked the Provincial Fire Police to coordinate closely with relevant forces to review fire-fighting networks, especially in industrial zones, apartment buildings, residential areas and public projects; strengthen dissemination and education on fire prevention and fighting. 

Additionally, the minister also asked the unit to popularize fire prevention and fighting work, and effectively exploit available resources to increase its capabilities of fire fighting and rescue in the coming time.

During the trip to Nghe An, Minister To Lam and the delegation also visited and lighted incense at the Kim Lien Relics and the Memorial House of the late Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc Hoan in Nam Trung commune, Nam Dan.
